Art History will be based on the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art's Heilbrunn Timeline, in addition to the Visual Arts Text Book, students may access the Smarthistory link for more information. Students will understand the History of Art while completing projects, a sketch book for notes and essays. The first essay will be a Descriptive Analysis of a work of Ancient Art. The second is a Comparative Analysis of works of art from the Renaissance. Impressionism will be studied while completing a work of art using similar styles and researching the chemical composition of the paints. The final essay will be a Critical Analysis of a contemporary work of art. Students will translate a contemporary work of art into their medium of interest, they would like to pursue in college. Analytical Rubrics are written for each project. Photography class will follow similar guidelines. Students will create a book using the notes and essays to be used for an EOC review. Students will have a final exam and complete an online digital portfolio. Portfolios will include a statement of your philosophy of art.
Students will communicate fluently using the Elements of Art and Principles of Design during classroom critiques and while writing essays and research papers.
