​ Visual Arts 2D 
​Foundations in Drawing, Painting and Printmaking  


Art students will understand and apply the Elements of Art and Principles of Design including proportions and perspective according to the Dine, National and New Mexico State Standards. Students will understand basic drawing  using value and perspective techniques. Students will apply the Elements and Principles of Design in a project while maintaining a Paper Portfolio and Digital Portfolio for college applications and Career Readiness.
         We will write a Descriptive,  Analytical  and Comparative Essay to gain insight into the  History of Art and Music. Students will refine skills in  critiquing their own art and the art of their peers. Students will select a specific medium such as pencil, charcoal, pen, printmaking, pastels and chalk, water colors, clay or digital paint brushes and refine their style and art while preparing for exhibits and competitions.  Students will present a portfolio to their peers and the Chapter House. Art students will explore careers from engineering and photography to welding and screen printing  using Nepris while taking formative and summative assessments.

Digital Media 1A Syllabus

Students completing Digital Media 1A  will receive  a State Digital Media Certificate. Digital Media is the process of analyzing, designing, and developing interactive media. Digital Media I is the first-year digital media course for the Arts and Communications Career Pathway. Students will create and learn digital media applications while using elements of text, graphics, animation, sound, video, and digital imaging for various formats. These abilities will prepare students for entry-level multimedia positions and provide fundamental 21st Century Learning skills beneficial for other occupational/educational endeavors.  Students will learn Precision Exams, Dine, National,  New Mexico, Common Core, Career Technical Education Standards.  Students will begin to develop their Sway Portfolio. Students will explore careers, including  producer, camera crew, Live broadcasting, makeup and wardrobe assistants, screenwriting, editing and commercial applications such as advertising and YouTube using Nepris, a secure, live classroom to interview professionals. Students will enter competitions and compete at skillsusa.org. This course may be followed by an ASA Certificate (Adobe Software Associate)
